Weekend GetAway

Today we drove down to Milwaukee for a weekend getaway. Kyra did not have school today so we headed out right after our apt with the tax man. Every year I go along with Dad so I can try to understand all the investments and things that they have. Since dad got sick his sense of humor had gotten a little bit weirder… Case in point, while we were sitting getting everything said and dine he turns to me and says “Did you know that I had to pay out more in taxes than you earned all last year (with a big grin)”… yah Dad way to rub it in :) Anyways, we started for Milwaukee and had our typical road trip conversations. It is always a nice time to catch up with each other after a long week. We got down there right after lunch time and met up with AJ to get a bite to eat. We ended up going to his new office which is downtown right by the Pfister hotel (pretty shnazy). Kaitlynn liked looking at all the tall buildings and pretty glass. It was nice to just sit down with him and have him tell us about his new job. After lunch we went to the Milwaukee Public Museum. It seems that this has become one of our favorite places to go. We all gave input on what exhibits we wanted to see- Dad: rocks and minerals, Kyra: old town Milwaukee which are full size homes with different displays of countries from around the world, Trina: Butterflies, Mom: anything and Miss Bella just likes everything. Kaitlynn even got close to a polar bear exhibit that was being moved. The bears head was on a cart along side his enormous paw with huge claws and she reached out to touch it. She wasn’t scared at all… what a little daredevil! After our quick jaunt through the museum we ran to see the IMAX showing of “Deep Sea Creatures.” I really wanted to see it but Kailtlynn would not cooperate so I bet I only saw half if that. Kyra though loved it. It was her first time in an IMAX and was totally thrilled. If you have never been in one… you gotta try it!

At around 7pm or so we headed to the Hotel for the night and to check out the pool. Not only was there like 30 floors in the hotel ( which Kyra thought looked like the Titanic it was so pretty) but the pool was actually a water park. Right in the city! It was pretty cool and both of the girls really enjoyed themselves. Kyra especially liked going across the “Sinking donuts” as I like to call them and Miss Kaitlynn couldn’t get enough of this spitting turtle. We went for a bit, took a pizza break and then went back down for another few hours before bed time. When we woke up in the morning the plan was to go swimming right away. Miss Bella had a rough night though and slept very little… which meant so did the rest of us since we all shared a room. Kyra got up at like 6am and so she and mom went on a walkabout as Dad, baby and I tried to catch a few more winks. They returned around 830 (pool doesn’t open till 9) with Dunkin Donuts which were awesome!!! We went to the pool for a few hours before we had to check out at 11am. After that we went to go check out the airport because I was a little nervous about where to park for our upcoming trip to Arizona. Dad gave me a short tour and then we all went to Discovery World, which by the way is probably Kyra’s favorite place on the face of the Earth. We spent a few hours there checking out all the cool stuff and the aquarium. Kaitlynn was totally thrilled with all the fish and Kyra put her hands on the generator that raises you hair when you touch it. Mom, Dad and Kyra went to a presentation on Tesla while Kaitlynn and I went exploring some more (no one under the age of 6 was allowed in). So we looked at some more fish and funny little objects for about an hour till they were done. We checked out the gift shop on the way out and the headed back for Green Bay. It was a quick weekend but it was awesome!!! Thanks Mom and Dad for taking us, we had a blast :)
