Lions and Tigers and Bears... Oh My!

The girls were utterly awed when we walked through the gates at our local zoo and there were the peacocks outside of a cage. Katie couldn't believe it. She just stood there glancing back and forth between the bird and myself and by the expression on her face you could see she was totally shocked... this went against the grain of her world and she was trying to re-frame it--- "they are not following the rules." Like she ever worried about the rules at home! (my carpet and the "no food in the living room" are a shining example). Those darn goldfish.
I have always tried to get my parents (and people in general) gifts that are meaningful. Sometimes I overshoot and it is more meaningful to me than it is to them but its bound to happen once in a while I guess. For Father's day and his birthday (they are a few days apart) AJ, mom and I went in on a membership for the whole family to the zoo. My dad has always loved taking us to the zoo and now he can take the girls whenever he pleases. He teaches them about all the animals- where they are from, what foods they eat, whats sounds they make. And the girls teach him about patience... its great!
Dad and Via are both in good health... much to be thankful for (especially hand sanitizer)
