3 Doctors in Three Days!!!

Yes you read correctly- we saw three doctors in three days last week. It was crazy! So the first doctor visit was for Via to see the pediatric neurologist (even saying it sounds expensive) to check in on her seizure activity. Last spring she started her episodes of not breathing and they actually ended up being silent seizures. So since that time she has been on a drug called Kepra that she takes in the morning and in the evening. Things have gone well and he was happy with her development cognitively so he did not feel that it was anything we needed to change. He had explained that even though to us six months seems like a long time (seeing she is only just over a year old) in the world of seizures it’s a very short time. So Miss Olivia will be on the Kepra for another six months and we will recheck in the summertime. He did not adjust the dose either because when he starts to wean it off she will have been weaning herself as she has been growing anyway- which makes sense… all in all good news.

 

The second doctor visit was to see the girls primary physician for Kaitlynn’s 3 year check and flu shot. And yes, this is a little late to see the doctor since she turned 3 back in November but what’s a few weeks right. She checked out A-Ok measuring in at 3 feet and 0.75 inches (34%) 38 lbs (94%). At first I was excited that she was in the 90s for her percent and then realized that it’s a bad thing- whoops. The goal is to be as close to 50% as possible because that is average… and in this case a good thing. So Kaitlynn at age three is a short chubbers but so darn cute it doesn’t matter, she will grow someday.

The third visit was to the same family doctor but for Olivia’s 15 month check. Which to me seems like a weird time to see the doctor but they had immunizations and her second round of the flu vaccine to give her… healthy is happy right? Well not so much for the ViaMonster. She cried and cried and cried- I think she may have been traumatized the poor girl. Before the shot though she did really well and measured 29.5 inches (22%) and 23 pounds (55%) not to mention a 47cm head circumference (80%) so she too is on the shorter side but in general she is petite. She even is still wearing 12 month clothes at almost 16 months. I cant blame her though because between my Grandma Herrman and Tim’s mom the girls really have no chance of being tall. I am pretty sure Kyra dodged that bullet though especially seeing she is taller than Sharon already and inching up on my chin not to mention wearing my shoes… I do not like this one bit (she is supposed to stay my little buddy forever!)
